Structured QGIS training, state-accredited certification and tailored programmes for organizations — delivered in English, Albanian and Macedonian.

Flexible delivery

Regular online groups are normally held after 18:00. Institutional training can also be organized during working hours, online or on-site, according to the participants' needs.

Vision

To strengthen the geo and GIS community through the effective use, development and promotion of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and open geospatial technologies.

Mission

To serve as a regional centre for professional geospatial training by providing structured, practical and up-to-date FOSS-based training programmes delivered by experienced professionals and tailored to the evolving needs of the geo/GI community.

Target Groups

Government institutions, local authorities, professional bodies, private companies, NGOs and non-profit organizations, educational and research institutions, independent researchers, and professionals working in geosciences, GIS and related disciplines.

Objectives

Promote research, development and practical implementation of FOSS and open geospatial technologies.
Provide professional training, technical support and continuous skills development within the geo/GI community.
Support the adoption of FOSS tools and technologies in professional, educational and research environments.
Increase awareness and practical knowledge of open-source GIS solutions.
Promote open access, spatial-data sharing and interoperable geospatial workflows.
Support multidisciplinary spatial analysis using open software and open data.
Encourage the use of FOSS and open data in university teaching and scientific research.
Promote understanding and implementation of international geospatial standards, including OGC standards.
Strengthen awareness of regional and international initiatives in GIS and geospatial technologies.
Ensure transparency through public verification and publication of issued certificates, subject to certificate-holder consent.

TAILORED PROGRAMMES FOR ORGANIZATIONS

SP1 — Custom QGIS Training

A special professional QGIS programme is prepared for the specific purposes of an organization or individual/professional. Geo-SEE Institute first meets the interested organization to assess its current GI environment, staff, working procedures and real needs. The programme is then prepared in coordination with the organization, including duration, materials, dynamics, number of attendees, level, training team, schedule, venue and certification.

SP2 — Custom QGIS Training + Sample Product

SP2 follows the same needs-assessment and tailored-programme approach, but also includes development of a real sample product for the organization. The programme, practical examples and sample product are prepared specifically for the organization, and the sample product remains available for its everyday work after the training.

University professor with more than 20 years of academic teaching experience. His career combines university education, scientific research and professional practice, supported by national and international projects, participation in scientific and professional events, cooperation within international geospatial organizations, and authorship of numerous scientific and professional contributions.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Subija IZEIROSKI

With more than 10 years of university teaching experience, his background links geoinformatics, engineering and applied research. His work includes GIS-based projects, international professional activities and scientific contributions focused on geospatial modelling, spatial analysis and practical applications of geospatial technologies.

Direct QGIS Certification

A separate certification pathway for professionals who already have QGIS knowledge and experience and do not need to attend a training course.

Certification for QGIS — Level 1, Level 2 & Level 3

Who can apply: Persons who already have knowledge and experience in working with QGIS may apply for certification in each level separately, without participation in a training course.

Certification fee: 200 Euro
Software licence price: 0 Euro
Format: Individual certification
Precondition for exam: No preconditions
Repeating the exam: Up to two additional attempts
Positive result: More than 70% of the points in the final examination
Time limitation: The examination must be completed within three months of submitting the application
Type of exam: Practical exam with spatial-data-based case studies

Certificate: Applicants receive certificates in English, followed by a transcript of the corresponding training-level contents. At the participant's request, the certificate and transcript are also available in Albanian and/or Macedonian without additional fees.

State Accreditation

Continuous State Accreditation since 2019

Geo-SEE Institute is the only accredited organization for professional QGIS training in the Republic of North Macedonia. The Institute has maintained continuous accreditation since 2019. The current accreditation represents the third consecutive accreditation cycle and is valid until 16 January 2030.
